Flat Roofing Experts

Flat roofing covers extensions, garages, dormers, porches and outbuildings, anywhere a pitched roof isn't practical. It isn't truly flat, there's always a slight fall built in so water runs to the outlet rather than sitting on it. We work mainly in EPDM rubber and fibreglass (GRP). Both are laid as a single continuous membrane with no seams across the middle, which is where older felt roofs almost always fail. Properly installed, you're looking at decades rather than the few years people expect from flat roofs.

When an old felt roof starts blistering, cracking or pooling water, when the edges lift, or when you're getting damp inside an extension or garage. Felt roofs laid twenty or thirty years ago are usually at the end of their life. It's also needed on any new extension or dormer. If water is sitting on your flat roof days after it rained, the falls have gone and patching won't fix it.

We strip the old covering back to the deck and check the timber underneath, replacing any that's soft or rotten. New decking goes down where needed, then the falls are corrected so water runs to the outlet. The EPDM or fibreglass membrane is laid over the top, with trims and edging finished neatly, and the outlet and any upstands sealed properly. Most garage and extension roofs are done in a day or two. Dry weather matters for fibreglass, so we'll book around the forecast.
