Daventry is a mix of the old town centre, the large expansion estates built from the sixties onward, and the surrounding Northamptonshire villages with their older stone and slate properties. The expansion-era housing is the bulk of what we see, and those concrete tile roofs are now around sixty years old, which is when ridge tiles start working loose, felt underneath perishes and tiles begin slipping.

The villages around Daventry sit exposed, and roofs on open ground take the wind harder than anything in a built-up street. Loose ridge tiles and stripped tiles after a gale are common calls.
